My formula is simple: be punctual and deliver top quality musicianship, play songs people recognize at a volume that is loud enough for people to enjoy but not so loud that it interferes with conversation.
I have been contributing to the success and ambience of private events for over 30 years both as a solo performer or a band leader. The musicians I hire to perform with me are all accomplished, seasoned professionals, among the best Calgary has to offer.
A little bit about Dave…
David Hirschman is a seven-string acoustic and electric guitarist who plays fingerstyle with a pianistic approach. The additional low string allows him to sound simultaneously like a bass and a guitar — one listener remarked, “When I walked in the room, I thought there were two people playing!”
His repertoire features popular songs from a variety of eras and genres, including classic rock, blues, R&B, classic country, smooth jazz, nouveau flamenco, and more. In a typical set, David might perform songs by The Beatles, Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Frank Sinatra, The Temptations, George Benson, Jimmy Webb, and many others.
Known for his musical versatility, David reads the room and transitions effortlessly from one style to another. As one audience member put it, “We started playing ‘Name That Tune’ while he was performing — and we recognized all of them!”
David’s Musical Background…
David’s seismic musical moment came in February 1964, when he saw The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. He began playing guitar that spring — and hasn’t put it down since. By the age of sixteen, he was already working as a professional musician.
He went on to study jazz with Arnie Berle, who introduced him to renowned seven-string guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli. Bucky became his mentor and inspired David to embrace the seven-string guitar, shaping the unique sound and style he’s known for today.
